The jury of the "STERN Young Photography" funding program has selected Maximilian Mann (28) as the winner of this year's "STERN Scholarship". He is the tenth STERN scholarship holder. Born in Kassel, he studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund. The focus of his work is on documentary and portrait photography, social and ecological changes in our society. His work has already appeared in STERN, "Zeit", "Spiegel" and many other media and has received several awards. From August 1, 2021 Maximilian Mann will work as a permanent photographer for STERN.

STERN has been setting standards in magazine journalism for decades with its visually powerful, multi-award-winning reportages. Discovering talent and offering them a forum for their work is part of the magazine's self-image and tradition. As part of its promotion of young talent, "STERN Young Photography," the editorial team will continue the "STERN Stipendium" in 2021, which gives young photojournalists under 35 the chance to develop themselves and their careers.

"Maximilian Mann is the tenth photojournalist who will spend a year gaining practical experience in the STERN editorial team since the program was launched in 2013. With their wealth of ideas and commitment, these young talents are always a visual enrichment for STERN," says STERN photo editor Andreas Trampe.
