Nico Hofmann has been voted number one in this year’s “Top 100 Out Executives” list. The list honors outstanding executives from the LGBT+ community who are active role models and stand up for equality. The list is organized by the UHLALA Group, an LGBT+ social enterprise, together with the Prout At Work Foundation.

Last Sunday, on “International Coming Out” day, the UHLALA Group together with the Prout At Work Foundation published its list of Germany’s “Top 100 Out Executives,” which honors outstanding executives from the LGBT+ community who are active role models and stand up for equal rights. After coming twelfth last year, Nico Hofmann, CEO of UFA, was voted number one by the judges this year. Besides Hofmann, the list features another Bertelsmann executive at #91: Kristin Unger, Director of Copyright Data Services at BMG.

“Germany’s Top 100 Out Executives” is a project that makes lesbian, gay, bi, trans and inter people visible in the working world. Since 2018, the “Top 100 Out Executives” list has highlighted executives who are queer and professionally successful. From all the nominees, a diverse jury determines the Top 100 rankings: “For UFA and its team, diversity is a completely natural part of the corporate culture – and is also demanded by the employees,” says Nico Hofmann. “For me, diversity doesn’t end with the question of sexuality – diversity is identity put into action.”

The UHLALA Group is a leading LGBT+ social enterprise in Germany. Since 2009, it has campaigned for LGBT+ people in their professional lives with numerous LGBT+ projects and brands worldwide. After years of voluntary work, the Prout At Work Foundation was founded with the support of eight companies in 2013. Because sexual orientation and gender identity are relevant in the workplace, the LGBT*IQ network and Prout At Work create a visible and tangible public sphere for LGBT*IQ issues in the workplace, thereby helping them become a matter of course. Besides to the “Top 100 Out Executives” list, the UHLALA Group and Prout At Work Foundation also publish the “Germany’s Top LGBT+ Voices 2020” list, on which Lars Fröhlich, Assistant Press Manager Heyne Verlage, and Michael Lauk, Operations Manager at Arvato Financial Solutions, feature in 34th and 35th place.
