RTL Deutschland Launches Seventh Theme Week ‘For More Life’

Subject: Media & Services
Country: Germany
Category: Project

From October 6 to 12, RTL Deutschland will once again dedicate a cross-media theme week to sustainability under the heading “For More Life” (original German: “Für mehr Leben”). This is the seventh such theme week, and this year’s focus will be “Sustainable Through Everyday Life.” TV, radio, and print magazines will explore how daily life can be lived more consciously, resource-efficiently, and with an eye toward the future. The week will feature practical solutions and inspiring projects, with a special focus on tackling food waste.

“Sustainability begins in everyday life – with the many small decisions we make each day,” says Marie-Fee Taube, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility. “By dedicating a week to the theme of ‘For More Life,’ RTL Deutschland will leverage its broad cross-media reach to show how we can all make a difference with simple steps. As a major media company, we see it as our responsibility to keep this important issue visible, to inform, and to inspire change.”

Highlights on TV, online, and in print

RTL’s magazines “Punkt 6,” “Punkt 7,” and “Punkt 8” will report on apps that reward climate-friendly behavior such as cycling with redeemable shopping vouchers. Anchor Maik Meuser will accompany an animal protection project by Sarah Connor, who has long campaigned for orca conservation. In a new talk format, Dirk Steffens will look back at what has already been achieved for the climate in recent years. At “Punkt 12,” a week-long series will follow residents of a Cologne high-rise as they attempt to make their environment greener and more sustainable. Other features will include cleaning sneakers sustainably and Felix Neureuther helping a family to live more responsibly. “Explosiv” will profile a “zero-waste family.”

“RTL Aktuell” will report on the Lower Bavarian town of Simbach, which is pushing ahead with renaturation and flood protection, and will provide a “Climate Update” with Dirk Steffens. The “RTL Nachtjournal” will highlight innovative approaches such as apartment buildings switching to solar power, using computer heat for heating, and generating electricity from pavements in England. RTL’s daily dramas will also creatively integrate sustainability topics: “Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten” will explore a bank’s efforts to go greener; “Alles was zählt” will tackle clothes swapping; and “Unter uns” will look at a fitness studio’s sustainability practices. In a “GZSZ Bargeflüster Special,” Anne Menden will talk about sustainable choices – on set, in her private life, and during her pregnancy. The interview will air in RTL magazine shows and on rtl.de.

On the radio

Vox will showcase vegan diversity in “Das perfekte Dinner,” where five hobby chefs in Berlin will prove how varied and enjoyable plant-based cooking can be. “Shopping Queen” will feature a “Vintage Week” in which contestants creatively style unworn items from their wardrobes. On October 12, Vox Up will air a “Shopping Queen” marathon centered on second-hand fashion. “Auto mobil” will cover both vehicle refurbishing programs and the test of a fully electric van. On October 9, Vox Up will present a special “Grand Designs” episode following the construction of a cathedral-like eco-house designed to meet strict passive house standards.

RTL Radio Deutschland stations will also contribute: 105’5 Spreeradio will offer daily consumer tips on saving electricity, buying local, and recycling old phones. 104.6 RTL will integrate sustainability into its morning show with quizzes, fact checks, and the humorous “eco oracle.” Toggo Radio will bring the topic closer to younger listeners with expert interviews and knowledge nuggets. The campaign will also feature on 104.6 RTL, RTL Deutschland’s Hitradio, 105’5 Spreeradio, Jam FM, Antenne Niedersachsen, 89.0 RTL, Radio Brocken, and Antenne Thüringen.

Print and online coverage

In “Stern,” readers will learn which sustainability tips really save money and protect the environment. “Geo” will present stunning images from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Award, and geo.de will explore everyday sustainability – from energy-saving laundry to eco-friendly gardening.

Marketing campaign ‘Small Steps. Big Impact. Together.’

A parallel marketing campaign under the slogan “Small Steps. Big Impact. Together.” will show how everyday decisions can make a real difference. Short, cross-platform spots will highlight simple actions such as shorter showers, washing clothes at 30 degrees, planting bee-friendly flowers, and avoiding food waste. RTL personalities Dirk Steffens, Clara Pfeffer, and Maik Meuser will lend their voices, while SpongeBob will provide a playful angle for children and families.

The 2025 edition of “Für mehr Leben” will be RTL Deutschland’s seventh week dedicated to sustainability, following previous editions focused on reducing plastic (2019), food waste (2020), water scarcity (2021), energy & mobility (2022), consumption (2023), and oceans & species protection (2024).
