Bertelsmann continues to bank on the training of young qualified professionals: Over the next several weeks, 186 young women and men will begin their training or group studies with Bertelsmann companies in the Gütersloh region – more than ever before. All of them will strive toward graduating from one of the 20 training and study courses – also more than ever before.

A record number of trainees and group students will begin their training or group studies with Bertelsmann companies in the Gütersloh region: The total of 186 young women and men will start with their professional career in 20 training professions or study courses, which is more than ever before. Yesterday, Group representatives officially welcomed 100 young people at the Corporate Center alone.

On Monday, 38 business administrators, 13 IT specialists, and 16 students of the dual “Bachelor of Arts – International Management” study course had their first day. 33 students of the “Bachelor of Science – Information Management”, who already started their dual training on August 1 of this year, can be added.

In addition, 85 young people were accepted for one of 16 other training courses in a Bertelsmann company in the region, and one participant of the new “Bachelor of Arts – Hotel Management” study course will train at the Parkhotel Gütersloh, which belongs to Bertelsmann.

High demand for newly qualified professionals

“It is good advice for companies to continue adhering to the development of young professionals in these times of sweeping changes that we are currently experiencing. With that, we are making a contribution to guaranteeing that Bertelsmann companies will not have a lack of qualified employees in the future,” emphasized Klaus Röttger, Head of Corporate Education at Bertelsmann, in his speech welcoming the new trainees. He added that they are also the basis for Bertelsmann’s economic success in the future. The demand for newly qualified professionals at the companies is appropriately high. “The fact that we offer young women and men a career perspective with our training and study courses is a win-win situation for all of the parties involved,” said Röttger.

Marlies Hanfgarn, Head of Corporate HR, pointed out the changes of the number of trainees and training courses. IT professions are increasingly in demand – today, IT specialists and information management students, for example, comprise around half of the trainees and group students at the Corporate Center. “Understand the training that you are going to complete as a major opportunity on your way to the professional life,” she appealed to the young people. “Now, the ball is in your court. Shape the future of our businesses together with us!”

Currently, Corporate Education at Bertelsmann handles 309 trainees and group students in the Gütersloh region. This number is also higher than ever before. Summed up, Bertelsmann is one of the region’s biggest training companies. Today, 154 of these 309 young people are working in the IT sector as well as 155 in business administration.
