“Packen wir’s an!” – “Let’s Tackle It!” is the slogan the companies in the Bertelsmann Content Alliance have adopted for their environmental and climate protection efforts in September. Audio Alliance, G+J, Mediengruppe RTL, RTL Radio Deutschland, UFA, and Verlagsgruppe Random House will be addressing various aspects of the issue with a TV theme week, magazine specials, and podcasts.

The companies in the Bertelsmann Content Alliance are pooling their media power and reach to tackle one of today’s most important issues: climate change and its consequences. The Audio Alliance, Gruner + Jahr, Mediengruppe RTL, RTL Radio Deutschland, UFA, and Verlagsgruppe Random House are putting various aspects of environmental and climate protection at the top of the agenda for the entire month of September under the slogan “Packen wir’s an!” – “Let’s Tackle It!”

With measures ranging from editorial spotlight topics to green issues and special broadcasts, through to social media initiatives and podcasts, the Bertelsmann Content Alliance aims to give readers, users, listeners, and viewers a better understanding of issue and show them how everyone can make a contribution to environmental and climate protection. In mid-September, for example, Mediengruppe RTL will launch a theme week in which the group’s channels and platforms will devote themselves comprehensively to the topics of plastic waste avoidance and environmental protection. During September, Gruner + Jahr will publish several magazines and specials focusing on sustainability, environmental protection, and protecting the climate, in both print and digital. UFA will report on “green production” in front of and behind the camera in a new section on its social media channels.

Verlagsgruppe Random House is launching a special website that gives an overview of the many different books it publishes on the topic of sustainability, and will present them on the publishers’ social media channels. The topic is also taken up in the publishing group’s podcasts. RTL Radio Deutschland radio stations will provide detailed information on the subject and initiate special campaigns on its programs. In addition, the Audio Alliance is covering a self-experiment in plastic-free living in a podcast available exclusively on Audio Now. The Bertelsmann Content Alliance companies are also organizing in-house activities for employees such as joint waste collection, information presentations, and workshops on waste avoidance, recycling, and upcycling.

“With the global Fridays For Future strike, World Clean Up Day, and the UN Climate Action Summit, September will be a month of climate protection around the world,” says Julia Jäkel, Chair of the Bertelsmann Content Alliance Board. “With the Bertelsmann Content Alliance’s strong brands and media, we reach just about every person in Germany. We are using this reach to give maximum attention to one of the major tasks of our time.”

“Bertelsmann is committed to environmental and climate protection,” says Bertelsmann CHRO Immanuel Hermreck. “This is continually reflected in our colleagues’ various ‘be green’ initiatives in the divisions around the world, too. The Bertelsmann Content Alliance’s ‘Packen wir’s an!’ campaign is a great example of this.”
