BMG Hosts First ‘Writers Workshop’ in Germany

Subject: Media & Services
Country: Germany
Category: Project

The Bertelsmann music company BMG has been explaining its different ways of working and its values to clients in the United States in “Writers Workshops” for some time. Recently, the first such event took place in Germany. Almost 50 songwriters and music producers met in Berlin with employees from BMG.

The format has already proven itself in the United States – and now, BMG has hosted its first “Writers Workshop” in Germany. At Bertelsmann’s Berlin office Unter den Linden 1, almost 50 songwriters and music producers working with BMG met to get information about the working method of the employees from BMG and their way of collaborating with clients.

According to BMG, such workshops aim to offer the songwriters and music producers information and support for their work as well as the possibility to discuss current developments. The goal is to bring BMG’s values of Fairness, Transparency and Service to life. “We will regularly establish these workshops with our writers and partners,” said Dominique Kulling, Managing Director BMG GSA. “The knowledge exchange between us as a company and the creatives is more important than ever, and our writers and partners have a big network that we plan to strengthen and weave together even tighter through these workshops.”

A Chance To Get To Know Point Persons At BMG

On behalf of BMG, representatives of the Artists & Repertoire (A&R), Synch, Legal, BMG Production Music, Income Tracking and Copyright and Royalties teams as well as those responsible for the “My BMG” app and for dealing with digital service providers participated in the “Writers Workshop”. They presented current trends and developments in their respective fields. The participants were offered the chance to have an exchange, ask questions, engage in discussions, and get to know their point persons at BMG.

The “Writers Workshop” in Berlin was the first of a series of similar planned events for BMG clients. While the first edition focused on songwriters who specifically write music for other artists or campaigns, future events will also focus on music managers and performing songwriters.
