Campaign Day: Great Commitment On Reading Day
At the occasion of the nationwide Reading Day last week, employees of Bertelsmann in Gütersloh and Verlagsgruppe Random House in Munich read to children in schools, kindergartens and daycare centers. In addition, the companies donated comprehensive book packages to the institutions.
Last Friday, the nationwide Reading Day took place in Germany for the sixteenth time – and once again, numerous employees of Bertelsmann companies in Gütersloh and Verlagsgruppe Random House in Munich participated this year. At the Bertelsmann home venue, 105 employees committed themselves to the campaign – more than ever before – and read to children in Gütersloh’s schools and daycare centers. In Munich, 100 employees, packed with bags and boxes full of books, swarmed out to actively promote reading.
In addition, Bertelsmann and Verlagsgruppe Random House donated a total of 4,292 books to the institutions. In Gütersloh, each child received a copy of the book that was read to them as a gift. Other books were given to the institutions for their libraries; in total, Bertelsmann donated 3,098 books on this year’s Reading Day. Verlagsgruppe Random House donated 150 book packages with a total of 1,194 books, 150 audiobooks and 149 giveaways from the publishers CBJ, CBT, Prestel Junior, Heyne fliegt, Mosaik, and CBJ Audio.
