Prinovis UK Invests In Solar Power

Subject: Environment
Country: Great Britain

Prinovis UK has installed a 1.1 megawatt photovoltaic system on the roof of its production facility. The company will be able to reduce its annual CO2 emissions by an average of 500 tons. Prinovis has invested around £700,000 (approximately €800,000) in the system with more than 4,000 solar panels.

The new photovoltaic system that Prinovis UK has installed on the roof of its production facility in Liverpool’s district Speke is able to produce 1.1 megawatts of energy, which is enough to supply 85 percent of the annual power consumed by the new web-offset press Goss M-600A launched at the beginning of May. Thanks to the solar power, Prinovis UK will be able to reduce its emissions by around 500 tons of CO2 per year. Prinovis has invested around £700,000 (approx. €800,000) in the system.

The installation of more than 4,000 solar panels adds to the energy produced by the company’s own CHP, which generates electricity with a high degree of efficiency, as well as heat and chilled water for the site. “Our environmental impact is a key consideration, and this investment forms part of an ongoing program of environmental improvements and energy-saving initiatives that also includes the replacement of standard and emergency lighting in all production areas with LED lighting,” said Richard Gray, Managing Director of Prinovis UK.
