From Bertelsmann Unter den Linden 1 to BMG to UFA: At the beginning of March, Bertelsmann presented a colorful program for young business students at this year’s MBA World Summit in Berlin. An MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree course combines business content with management elements. After past MBA World Summits had taken place in Hong Kong, Barcelona and Miami, the event was now held in Berlin for the first time – an opportunity for Bertelsmann to not only participate as a sponsor, but to also open the doors of its numerous addresses in the German capital.

Organized annually by the QX Quarterly Crossing initiative since 2014, this year’s MBA World Summit attracted around 100 management students from around the world, including the Harvard Business School, the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the London School of Economics.

By participating in the MBA World Summit, Bertelsmann not only hopes to further strengthen its position as an attractive, global employer -  the platform also gives the company an opportunity to recruit new participants for its Bertelsmann Entrepreneurs Program (BEP).

"The MBA World Summit has proven to be a valuable recruiting tool for us," says Nico Rose, who as Senior Director Corporate Management Development is responsible for the Employer Branding/Recruiting Program department.

Bertelsmann hosts networking evening

At an evening event hosted at Bertelsmann Unter den Linden 1 in Berlin, MBA World Summit participants had a chance to learn more about the company and make new contacts then and there. Besides presenting the company, Nico Rose also gave a historical insight into the Unter den Linden building.

"Bertelsmann hosting the networking evening really let the students get to know Bertelsmann and experience what makes it special: our people and their passion for media," comments Pamela Taylor, also of the Employer Branding/Recruiting Program department.

During a tour of companies the following day, a group of students had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of Bertelsmann’s television and music business. After a visit to BMG, where CFO Maximilian Dressendörfer and Ulrike Dittgen-Noweski, Senior Vice President Human Resources, spoke about how BMG is shaping the future of the music industry, the group went on to Babelsberg where, among other things, they explored the set of the soap "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten." A visit to the UFA Lab completed the tour. As a former participant of the Bertelsmann Entrepreneur Program, Tobias Schiwek, Head of UFA Lab, shared his experience of the program with the students.
