Two Comic Con India Awards for Penguin Random House India

Subject: Media & Services
Country: India
Category: Prizes & Awards

Penguin Random House India has won two Comic Con India Awards: the book “The Best Baker in the World” written by Raja Sen and illustrated by Vishal K Bharadwaj won in the “Best Children’s Illustrated Book” category, and Penguin Random House India won gold for “Fan Favourite Publisher of the Year”.

The film classic “The Godfather” serving as the basis for a children’s book? At first glance, this idea doesn’t seem very plausible. But not for Indian film critic Raja Sen and illustrator Vishal K Bharadwaj, who wanted to find out whether the story about the Corleone clan would retain its iconic character if the adult elements blood, sex and violence were left out.

The most recent award the children’s book “The Best Baker in the World” published by Penguin Random House India received at Comic Con India last week proves that their mission was successful. The book, which tells the story of master baker Don Cannoli and is written entirely in limericks, won one of the annual Comic Con India Awards in the “Best Children’s Illustrated Book” category.

For Penguin Random House India, that was not the only award: the publishing group also won gold for “Fan Favourite Publisher of the Year”.

The Comic Con India Awards honor the best comics or graphic design publications of a year in eight categories. The event celebrating comic and pop culture has been taking place in India since 2011.
