Since January, Arvato organizes the file management for 50,000 refugee families at the LaGeSo in Berlin.
We Help – With Our Products and Services
Media informs, entertains, stimulates debate, and: media can help. It can make an effective contribution in combating social injustices such as discrimination; bring attention to the risks of pollution and other dangers to our environment. Bertelsmann’s divisions contribute to their communities as well with their journalistic skills and technical know-how, the diversity of their products and services, and in their ability to reach wide audiences.
Support Through Content
With our diverse content and publication formats, we regularly tackle topics from our areas of social and environmental responsibility to stimulate public discussion about them. For instance, Penguin Random House titles regularly cover themes like poverty, world hunger and climate change in great depth. The Gruner + Jahr magazine GEO has run an annual Biodiversity Day since 1999 to sharpen people’s awareness about the biodiversity on our doorsteps.
Support Through Donations
Many of our divisions use their media to raise awareness and funds for projects all over the world. Since 1989, "Télévie," a joint initiative between RTL Belgium and RTL Letzebuerg, has raised more than €162 million for the Belgian "Fonds National de la Recherche," earmarked for research and treatment of cancer and leukemia for adults and children. Germany’s "RTL-Spendenmarathon" has raised well over €151 million since 1996 for children in need in Germany and troughout the World.
Support Through Services
When national and international disasters strike, the Arvato subsidiary AZ Fundraising Services supports relief efforts free of charge with its comprehensive direct-marketing services. An extensive services package with features such as emergency mail-outs and calls enables an immediate response in cases where people need help quickly and urgently.
Support Through Know-how
As part of the "G+J Commitment" corporate volunteering program, employees are encouraged through time off and material grants to volunteer their time and professional expertise for charities or community projects: Online journalists regularly donate their skills to an internet support site for refugees, or an account supports the work of a local homeless shelter.
RTL Belgium's and RTL Lëtzebuerg's charity campaign "Télévie" yields more than 10.1 million Euro.
Bertelsmann is donating a newly designed section of the City Library in Gütersloh, specifically for young readers.
Since the start of the RTL-Spendenmarathon in 1966, a total of 151 million Euro has been raised.
