Penguin Random House US continued its social impact partnership with the New York Public Library (NYPL) through a two-day donation matching campaign together with author Katie Kitamura. The publishing group supports the NYPL through various campaigns; this time, PRH US triple-matched all donations to NYPL on March 25-26, resulting in a total of $60,000 from nearly 700 gifts. In her call for donations, Katie Kitamura, author of the PRH bestseller “Audition”, said: “Reading is a collaboration and negotiation between the reader’s mind and the writer’s mind, resulting in a new world created between the two.” Currently a Cullman Center Fellow at NYPL, Kitamura also shared how the Library supports her work as a writer and researcher. She highlighted the essential role libraries play in fostering creativity, intellectual exchange, and cross-cultural understanding through language, literature, and archival access.
