The C. Bertelsmann author, evolutionary biologist, and biosystems scientist Matthias Glaubrecht has received the honorary award of the Heinz Sielmann Stiftung for his work. Together with biologist Margret Bunzel-Drüke, Glaubrecht received the award for his outstanding commitment to nature conservation and biodiversity. Fritz Brickwedde, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Heinz Sielmann Stiftung, said: “Both award winners share a lifelong fascination with the complex network of nature and a passionate desire to make it visible and preserve it.” The awards were presented on November 13 in the Meranti Hall at Allwetterzoo Münster. Since 1994, the Heinz Sielmann Stiftung, which is named after the famous animal filmmaker, has been honoring individuals, public institutions, research institutions, and companies that have made outstanding contributions to nature conservation and biodiversity with the Heinz Sielmann Honorary Award. In addition to a certificate and €10,000, the winners receive a trophy in the form of an otter, Heinz Sielmann’s favorite animal.
