Even in these difficult economic times, Random House is continuing its commitment to help fund the education of a number of high-achieving children of its U.S. and Canada employees, designating them Random House Scholars for 2009-10. For the fourth consecutive year, the publisher has awarded one-year scholarships for post-secondary school study. Nineteen children of Random House employees who work at various locations in North America will receive a stipend of $2,500 for this academic year.
All employees of Random House companies in North America whose children attend a college or university are eligible to apply for the Random House scholarship program. The criteria for a scholarship are academic achievement, as well as participation in school and community activities . All candidates were evaluated and the award determined by an external organization to ensure objectivity and equal opportunity.
