Last Friday Random House Group publishing staff celebrated raising record breaking funds for a charity partner. Celebrations were marked with a cheque presentation by Gail Rebuck, The Random House Group Chair and CEO, for the sum of £61,469.36 to Alex Rennie, Head of Corporate and Trusts Fundraising, and Theo Coyne, Corporate Fundraiser at the charity. On the same day more than 110 Random House staff from Pimlico and Ealing sites took part in the publisher’s annual seven mile charity walk, the ‘Random Ramble’.

Shooting Star CHASE was chosen by Random House staff to be the company’s charity partner in April 2012 and, after a hugely successful first year, staff voted to continue their support in 2013/14. Random House supported Shooting Star CHASE prior to 2012 by taking part in events such as the Catteshall Stroll in memory of former Random House Group Managing Director Peter Bowron whose family has received much valued support and care from the charity since his daughter Anna was born with a rare chromosomal defect.

Gail Rebuck said: “Over the last year staff have embraced our partnership with Shooting Star CHASE more than any other charity. From taking on physical challenges like the ramble, half marathons and obstacle courses, to giving their time as bakers, charity shop volunteers and gardeners, their individual and team efforts have been truly impressive. Shooting Star CHASE provides an extraordinary level of care to hundreds of families and I am delighted that we are supporting them for another year.”

Jeremy Payne, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Shooting Star CHASE added: “Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone at Random House who has made a contribution towards this incredible amount which will fund two palliative care nurses based at our hospices for an entire year. We couldn’t provide this vital service to currently more than 660 families without the generous support of partners like Random House. The fact that staff have chosen to support us for a second year is the icing on a very large cake so we look forward to building an even stronger relationship!”
