Arvato Supply Chain Solutions Expands Its Hanover Site

Arvato Supply Chain Solutions is commissioning a new 47,000 sqm logistics center where it will handle the online business for a sporting goods manufacturer and a customer from the beauty and cosmetics industry. The expansion will create 300 new jobs. Arvato has already operated a logistics and distribution center of around 60,000 sqm for companies from the fashion and lifestyle industry at its Hannover-Messe site since 2015.

Arvato Supply Chain Solutions is growing and expanding its capacities in Hanover, where it will handle the online business for a sporting goods manufacturer and a customer from the beauty and cosmetics industry. To this end, the international supply chain management and e-commerce service provider is moving into the entire space of a new logistics center measuring around 47,000 square meters at the Hannover-Messe site. The expansion will create around 300 new jobs.

The new logistics center will handle all e-commerce logistics for the B2C business of both customers. This includes warehousing, order picking, packaging, distribution, and returns management. “This expansion shows that the market is rewarding our expertise in fulfillment and logistics support for e-commerce businesses,” says Dr. Stefan Weidt, Executive Vice President Arvato Supply Chain Solutions. Arvato has already operated a logistics and distribution center of around 60,000 square meters at the Hannover-Messe site since 2015; it mainly handles online orders for companies from the fashion and lifestyle industry. Stefan Weidt: “Our extensive know-how at the site enables synergies for new business. Our processes and services are always strongly focused on our clients’ end customers – this approach is becoming increasingly important in online retail.” For companies in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industries, for example, Arvato implements complete solutions that cover all facets of a successful e-commerce business – with services ranging from classic warehousing to integrated multichannel fulfillment and payment.

Excellent location

The new site’s excellent location close to the Hanover trade fair center supports fast distribution to end customers, with connections to the A 2, A 7, A 37 and A 352 freeways around Hanover via the trade fair expressway. Nine federal highways can also be reached quickly from the site. Sustainability was also prioritized at the new logistics center. For example, the building has a highly insulated facade and will be equipped with energy-saving LED lighting. A photovoltaic system with an output of around 4.4 million kilowatt hours is to be installed on the roof. Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is being sought for the property. Says Stefan Weidt: “The aspiration of the Bertelsmann Group, which includes Arvato Supply Chain Solutions, is to be completely climate-neutral by 2030. With the sustainably designed new facility, we are making an important contribution to this.”
