Atresmedia Speaks Of A 'Historical TV Year' 2013

When looking back on the past twelve months, the Spanish group of channels Atresmedia speaks of a "historical year". With an average viewer market share of 13.4 percent in the advertising-relevant target group, the group’s main channel Antena 3 recorded its best result in four years. Month after month, ratings increased in the second half-year, most recently to a respectable 14.5 percent in December.

In its third year, the sister channel La Sexta recorded a market share of six percent and for the first time in its history outperformed the competitor Cuatro. Antena 3 and La Sexta were the only channels in the Spanish television year 2013 that experienced gains. In total, the Atresmedia group, which includes the digital channels Neox, Nitro and Nova, achieved a market share of 28.8 percent.

While Antena 3 captured second place in 2012, the channel moved close to the No.1 spot last year, missing it by just one tenth of a percentage point. And it had even outperformed the leader for a period of six months. Antena 3 held the No.1 position in the advertising-relevant target group except for one month.

The result of the entire Atresmedia group of channels is impressive especially during primetime, where the group achieved a combined market share of 29.5 percent.
