BI Subsidiary Cormeo Expands Portfolio With Medicines.ie
Joint management of medicines information together with the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association.
Cormeo, the newly established pharma techn holding company of Bertelsmann Investments (BI), has acquired a majority stake in medicines.ie, a provider of accurate and reliable medicinical information in Ireland, from the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA). Cormeo and the IPHA intend to continue managing medicines.ie jointly in the future. According to a statement by Cormeo, the collaboration is an example of how the pharmaceutical industry's knowledge can be combined with Cormeo's capabilities to improve patient care in Europe.
A tool for informed decision-making in Irish healthcare
Medicines.ie was established by IPHA, the Dublin-based representative body for the research-based biopharmaceutical industry in Ireland. It has earned a strong reputation by providing comprehensive, up-to-date, and regulatory-approved information on medicines, making it a trusted source for healthcare professionals and patients alike. The platform includes detailed product descriptions, electronic patient information leaflets (ePILs), and summaries of product characteristics (SmPCs), making it an essential tool for informed decision-making in the Irish healthcare sector.
Medicines.ie marks the latest addition to Cormeo’s portfolio in the field of life sciences information distribution — a portfolio that already includes Rote Liste, Germany’s trusted source for medicinal product information. According to the company, the partnership with IPHA builds on Cormeo’s experience in scaling and extending the reach of medicinal product information in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies. Together, the partners aim to ensure that healthcare professionals and patients in multiple countries have access to reliable medicinal information — and to establish Cormeo as a key player in the distribution of medicinal product information across Europe.
‘Access to Compliant and Up-To-Date Medicinal Information’
“We are very pleased to welcome medicines.ie — another trusted and well-established platform for medicinal product information for healthcare professionals and patients — to the Cormeo family,” says Cormeo CEO Peter Koop. “With this investment, we are reaffirming our commitment to improving access to compliant and up-to-date medicinal product information in every country.”
Cormeo COO Tobias Beer adds: “This strategic step allows us to enhance our capabilities and expand our international reach as we pursue our vision of a smart information lifecycle for the life sciences sector. It enables seamless access to vital medicinal product information for all stakeholders. We see tremendous potential in the collaboration between Rote Liste and medicines.ie, as both are trusted sources in their respective countries and operate within the shared regulatory framework of the EU.” The partnership, he explains, enables both companies to leverage their experience, technologies, and expertise to mutual benefit.
“We look forward to working with the team at Cormeo,” says Oliver O’Connor, Chief Executive of IPHA. “This partnership allows us to expand the services medicines.ie offers to pharmaceutical companies and to continue the excellent work we’ve done to support healthcare professionals in their decision-making — ultimately benefiting patients across Ireland.”
