Heyne Launches Diezukunft.de

The future starts now –Heyne Verlag launches diezukunft.de, a new online vertical devoted to the theme of the future and the literary genre of science fiction. The new portal is a destination for anyone interested in "the future" – be it in literature, movies, comics, computer games, art or science.

For 50 years now, Germany’s Heyne Verlag has published books about the future; the publisher leads the market in this genre with its own science-fiction series. Just in time for its big anniversary and a few days before the Leipzig Book Fair, the publisher is launching a new digital meeting place for all readers interested in the future. The diezukunft.de portal, designed by noted science-fiction experts, aggregates recent news, reviews, essays, videos and columns and invites users to join the debate about the world of tomorrow and beyond.

Such an offer necessarily includes a well-stocked shop: diezukunft.de offers hundreds of science fiction titles as e-books for download, from the latest contemporary novels to the great classics of the genre – a selection that the publisher says it is constantly expanding.

“Are we already living in the future? Smartphones and cyberspace, high-tech medicine and electric cars – we are surrounded by things that were science-fiction visions not too long ago, or still are, though we don’t perceive them as such,” says Sascha Mamczak, publisher of Heyne’s science-fiction series. “Diezukunft.de is a unique Internet portal whose role is to present these visions – old and new, visible and hidden – in their multimedia manifestations."
