Mohn Media Prints For Greenpeace And Naturschutzbund
The printing company benefited from its experience with mineral oil-free ink gained through international orders.
Mohn Media now prints the “Greenpeace-Nachrichten”. By 2028, the printing company, which is part of Bertelsmann Marketing Services, will produce around 600,000 magazines per quarter. The sales team signed the agreement in mid-2025 and did a convincing job: shortly after the signing, the company also won Naturschutzbund, the German Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union, as a customer.
Environmentally friendly ink
In the tendering process, Mohn Media particularly benefited from its experience with a requirement that was highly important for both environmental organizations: the exclusive use of mineral oil-free ink for the production. The Mohn Media team was able to refer to its international experience: In France, the use of mineral oil-free ink has been required by law since the beginning of this year. And since Mohn Media serves customers in France, the infrastructure for providing the environmentally friendly ink was already in place. Mineral oil-free ink has various advantages that are of key importance for both environmental organizations: The printed paper is easy to recycle, and it is free of harmful substances and based on renewable resources such as plant oils.
Mohn Media now produces the German-language magazines for two of the largest and best-known nature conservation organizations worldwide. Greenpeace has around 632,000 supporting members in Germany, and Naturschutzbund 776,600 members. The first “Greenpeace-Nachrichten” magazine printed in Gütersloh was already delivered to the members.
600,000 copies within one day
In its current issue titled “Unser Amazonas”, the environmental organization highlights the importance of the rainforest for the global climate. The magazine is published quarterly and deals with current topics related to the environment and nature conservation on around 30 pages.
The print run for “Greenpeace-Nachrichten” and “Nabu-Magazin” is nearly 600,000 copies each. Mohn Media can print these quantities within in one day. After printing, the magazines go through the post-press process for one day before they can be shipped.
