New Corporate Headquarters For BMG

From 2027, BMG’s Berlin headquarters will be located in the iconic former Galeries Lafayette building.

BMG is preparing to relocate its Berlin headquarters. In early 2027, the Bertelsmann music company will move to the top floor of the iconic Lumina building. The building housed the Galeries Lafayette department store until 2024 and is currently undergoing redevelopment. The move follows a lease agreement with the global real estate company Tishman Speyer.

The new headquarters will be located at Friedrichstrasse 76–78, just two blocks from BMG’s current Berlin offices, ensuring the company remains firmly rooted in the heart of the German capital. Lumina is known for its modern, distinctive glass façade featuring striking glass cones that create a bright, open atmosphere filled with natural light.

‘A significant milestone for BMG’

BMG CEO Thomas Coesfeld commented, “Moving our headquarters to Lumina marks a significant milestone for BMG. This iconic Berlin building provides a prestigious, next-generation workspace that truly reflects our ways of working as a global music company with a strong commitment to Berlin. Lumina will foster an environment where our employees can thrive, boosting creativity and collaboration.”

Florian Reiff, Senior Managing Director at Tishman Speyer, said: “We warmly welcome BMG to Lumina. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating dynamic ecosystems that offer thoughtful retail along with modern, sustainable, and well-curated workspaces in prime, well-connected locations—environments that also attract top talent.”

Modern and sustainable

The Lumina building is currently undergoing a comprehensive renovation by Tishman Speyer. The project preserves the iconic character of Jean Nouvel’s original design while introducing a new usage concept. Upon completion, the building will offer modern, sustainable, and well-curated workspaces.

Amenities available to tenants will include a large rooftop featuring a garden area and panoramic views of Friedrichstrasse, a spacious bicycle garage with changing facilities, and dedicated event spaces. The building is also targeting certification for environmental sustainability (LEED), occupant well-being (WELL), digital connectivity (WiredScore), and its transportation concept (Good Mobility).
Construction of Lumina is set to be completed in the first quarter of 2027, ahead of BMG’s move.
