New Creative Color Option For The Sustainable Eco Record

Media manufacturer Sonopress presents yet another LP innovation: “Inkplosion.”

First an NFC chip that can store additional digital content on the sustainable Eco Record, now Inkplosion: Sonopress, a Bertelsmann Marketing Services company, introduced another innovation for record production ahead of this year’s Making Vinyl Conference in Haarlem, the Netherlands, which concluded on Friday. The new offering adds a striking creative element to the established Eco Record, giving musicians, artists, and labels new ways to present their LPs visually and turn each one into a unique piece.

“Sonopress is constantly working to expand its existing portfolio of special effects for records,” says Sven Deutschmann, Managing Director of Sonopress. The Inkplosion process once again delivers on this promise. According to the company, the innovation makes it possible to design each Eco Record with distinctive color patterns during production — a method known in vinyl pressing as the “splatter” technique.

Automation ensures variety and quality

To ensure both precision and creativity, Sonopress has developed a new automation system that controls the mixing of colors and pigments while still allowing for individuality. The process is ready for market and is now available to all customers as an option in Eco Record production.

Eco Record, manufactured in a resource-saving process that cuts CO₂ emissions by up to 85 percent compared to conventional vinyl, has already set new standards in the industry. Inkplosion builds on this sustainable approach by adding a distinctive visual element. “Inkplosion gives musicians, artists, and labels a tool to present their music in a way that is not only acoustically but also visually unique – and in harmony with sustainability and innovation. Each record becomes a one-of-a-kind piece that highlights artistic expression and inspires collectors,” says Deutschmann.
