OneRepublic Signs New Global Record Deal With BMG
The signing marks the U.S. pop-rock band’s first new label contract in nearly two decades.
U.S. pop-rock band OneRepublic has signed a global record deal with BMG—marking their first label change since the release of their debut album “Dreaming Out Loud” in 2007. Under the new partnership, the band’s upcoming seventh studio album will also be released. The first single, “Beautiful Colors”, is set to drop on July 25.
Many songs featured in film and TV productions
“Dreaming Out Loud” featured the hit single “Apologize”, which sold 20 million copies worldwide, broke digital sales and airplay records, and earned OneRepublic a Grammy nomination. The band’s second album, “Waking Up” (2009), included hit singles “All the Right Moves”, “Secrets”, and “Good Life.” In 2013, the Platinum-certified album “Native” followed, featuring the No. 1 hit “Counting Stars”, which sold over 40 million copies. The band went on to release their fourth album, “Oh My My”, in 2016, followed by “Human” in 2021. Most recently, in 2024, they released “Artificial Paradise”, which includes the 4x Platinum single “I Ain’t Worried” and the track “West Coast”—earning rave reviews. According to BMG, OneRepublic have surpassed 18 billion streams on Spotify to date.
Many of the band’s songs have been featured in TV and film productions across various countries. For example, “Apologize” was part of the soundtrack to Til Schweiger’s film “Keinohrhasen”, while “Say (All I Need)” appeared in U.S. TV shows “The Hills” and “Vampire Diaries.” “I Ain’t Worried” featured in the Hollywood blockbuster “Top Gun: Maverick.” Germany’s ZDF used “Marchin’ On” as the anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and “Love Runs Out” for the 2014 tournament. OneRepublic have received numerous award nominations, including the Grammy, Echo Pop, Amadeus Austrian Music Award, Swiss Music Award, and MTV Europe Music Award, and have earned multiple Platinum certifications.
“We’re excited to join the BMG family to keep releasing music that our fans will love,” said lead singer Ryan Tedder. He added that Jon Loba and Dan Gill from BMG had been “incredible partners” throughout the process, and the band now looks forward to their continued support. “We can’t wait for our fans to hear our new single ‘Beautiful Colors’, inspired by the Japanese anime series ‘Kaiju No. 8’, coming out later this month,” Tedder said.
Billions of streams
Jon Loba, President, Frontline Recordings, The Americas, BMG, said: “OneRepublic is one of the most dynamic and enduring bands of the past two decades, with a global footprint that spans chart-topping hits, billions of streams, and a deep catalog of era-defining music. Their ability to evolve, innovate, and connect with audiences worldwide aligns perfectly with BMG’s artist-first philosophy.”
Dan Gill, Executive Vice President, Recorded Music, West Coast, BMG, added: “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter—not just for the band. Partnering with OneRepublic further strengthens our ability to collaborate at the highest level and deliver for artists of this caliber. We are fully committed to supporting OneRepublic’s creative vision and ensuring their upcoming album reaches fans on a scale like never before.”
