Relias Collaborates With American Red Cross
Relias, part of Bertelsmann Education Group, will be working with the American Red Cross in the future. The idea is to offer Red Cross employees and volunteers the opportunity to receive free training using Relias course packages.
Relias has teamed up with the American Red Cross. The new partnership will provide exclusive access to free courses for thousands of health and human service professionals, including nurses, physicians, paramedics, social workers, and behavioral health specialists. Relias, a Bertelsmann Education Group company, and is an education and personnel development partner for more than 12,000 organizations in the health and social care sector worldwide and around 4.5 million nursing staff.
The American Red Cross employs roughly the same number of people as it did ten years ago, but now responds to almost twice as many large disasters. This has led to a critical need for more volunteers to support people who depend on the Red Cross for help. Disaster health service professionals are some of the most in-demand team members needed. Because many volunteers are retiring, it is even more important that Red Cross health professionals can complete their training to obtain the necessary licenses, free of charge through the course packages offered by Relias. The educational content in the courses is developed to be convenient and aims to strengthen the volunteer’s knowledge and skillset. It is enhanced by the innovative Relias Platform, which provides users with a personalized, easy-to-use experience to keep them engaged and provide convenience to their busy lives. In addition to complimentary courses from Relias, Red Cross health professionals can take advantage of other resources including networking and community building opportunities from the company’s other brands including Nurse.com and Relias Academy.
‘Improving the lives of the most vulnerable and their caretakers’
“At Relias, our mission is to definitively improve the lives of the most vulnerable community members and their caretakers,” said Kay Krafft, Relias CEO. “When we were presented with the opportunity to help support the selfless volunteers and employees at the Red Cross, we knew we had to participate.” Felicia Sadler, Vice President of Quality at Relias, said: “All healthcare providers deserve to receive adequate recognition and career advancement opportunities, particularly those who give up so many of their own resources to help others in need.” Linda MacIntyre of the American Red Cross added: “This collaboration with Relias marks our commitment to fostering lifelong learning and health professional development opportunities for both Red Cross employees and volunteers. As volunteers comprise 90 percent of our workforce, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back by offering them the educational materials and tools they need to expand their skillset and keep their licensure current.”
15,000 US dollars for victims of the Hawaii wildfires
As part of its corporate responsibility program, Relias had pledged to match up to $5,000 in employee and client donations toward the Maui wildfire relief efforts, assisting with the distribution of meals and housing. Relias raised a total donation of $15,305 for the Red Cross. The companies will continue expanding their partnership through activities such as collaborative speaking opportunities, volunteer campaigns, and donation efforts.
The American Red Cross provides shelter, care and support for disaster victims, supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood needs, teaches life-saving skills, distributes international humanitarian aid, and supports veterans, military personnel and their families. The American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that relies on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to fulfill its mission.
