RTL Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary

RTL turned 40 on January 2. The TV channel has launched a comprehensive marketing campaign in its own programming and on social media channels to celebrate the occasion, with more than 50 RTL celebrities joining in.

Colorful, loud, and always surprisingly different: RTL has been synonymous with a program diversity composed of favorite shows and innovative TV highlights for four decades. On January 2, RTL turned 40. To celebrate the anniversary, the channel is shooting off fireworks for a big campaign: Under the slogan “Always a bit more of everything”, it has launched a large-scale campaign conceived by the RTL Deutschland Marketing team. The campaign will run through February 4.

“The starting shot for RTL was the beginning of a new era for German television,” said Inga Leschek, Program Director RTL and RTL+. “Our recipe of success has always been a bit louder, a bit fresher – simply being a bit more of everything. It is our creed to communicate in an approachable and clear way and to reach a broad range of viewers. With this way of creating our programming, we have been hitting the bull’s eye with our viewers for 40 years. Today, RTL represents Germany’s most successful television brands, strong information offers and great live sports, and we will continue to remain loyal to our RTL programming promise in the future.”

RTL celebrities celebrate their channel

More than 50 RTL celebrities highlight 40 years of RTL by relating the campaign slogan to their own shows and celebrating the channel’s anniversary with plenty of confetti. The congratulators include Jan Köppen, Frauke Ludowig, Katja Burkard, Inka Bause, Daniel Hartwich and Sonja Zietlow, among others. In addition to numerous highlight trailers and advertising bumpers, contributions on RTL’s numerous social media channels and in the journals are part of the key campaign elements. Several small, charming activities that directly address the company’s employees are planned. The famous RTL claim “Welcome Home” will again move into the spotlight for the 40th anniversary, bringing familiarity and a sense of togetherness to viewers and users in the middle of the cold winter season.
