RTL+ Continues Hit Series ‘Sisi’

The second season of RTL+ hit series “Sisi” starts on December 16 with six new episodes, once again starring Dominique Devenport as Empress Sisi and Jannik Schümann as Emperor Franz Joseph I. The first season already attracted an audience of millions on free TV and was also a big streaming success.

Following the popular success of the first season, season two of the RTL+ series “Sisi” is set to start in the run-up to Christmas, on December 16. It comprises six new episodes, once again starring Dominique Devenport as Empress Sisi and Jannik Schümann as Emperor Franz Joseph I. Last December, the first season enthralled an audience of millions on free TV and was a huge streaming success as well. The event series is a contemporary retelling of the story of Elisabeth, the beloved Empress of Austria-Hungary, known affectionately as “Sisi.”

The new episodes of the second season will first appear on RTL+ as a “box set” on December 16. Vox will show the first season again to set the mood – three episodes each on December 16 and 17, starting at 8:15 pm. Finally, the brand-new episodes of the second season will be a post-Christmas highlight in RTL’s free TV programming  starting at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, and Wednesday, December 28.

About the plot: In season two, Sisi gifts her Franz with an heir to the throne. The birth of their son should make the happiness of the imperial couple perfect. Instead, it sparks power struggles in Europe. Bismarck threatens to drive Austria into a new war. Sisi tries with all her strength to be there for her husband and her people. Personal happiness, however, does not seem to be granted to the empress, for Sisi’s life remains that of a bird in a golden cage.

The freshly launched podcast channel in the “RTL+ Music” app is featuring the exclusive podcast “Sisi – Ihrer Zeit voraus” (Sisi – Ahead of Her Time, in German), in which host Tim goes on a search for traces of Sisi’s past in Vienna and meets people who tell interesting stories about the empress. RTL+’s YouTube channel already published the very first, three-minute trailer with exciting insights into the second season as a premiere on November 17.
