RTL Deutschland Presents The 2025 NFL Regular Season

You can’t get more American football than this! Germany’s free-to-air TV and streaming home of the National Football League presents the world’s biggest sports league more comprehensively than ever before and launches the next stage of expansion: With the start of the 2025 NFL regular season, RTL Deutschland continues to invest in the expansion of its live coverage in addition to its cross-media content offering and will focus even earlier on touchdowns, tactics, and talk on game days. From September, the NFL game day will start at 6:15 p.m. CET on Nitro with the new live talk format “Guten Abend Football”.

The highlights of the week, analytical deep dives, entertaining expert talks, and all relevant information about the weekend’s top games – presenter Jan Stecker will host the 45-minute talk on Sundays at 6:15 p.m. together with the RTL experts Patrick Esume and Björn Werner, with all the news from the current NFL game week. The format is directly followed by the kickoff for live football on free-to-air TV and in streaming – with two evening games at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on RTL or Nitro, and an additional 7 p.m. game on RTL+.
NFL regular season week 1 live on Nitro
Directly after the kickoff talk “Guten Abend Football”, the ball will fly on Nitro on September 7 in the new season’s first game week. In the following game weeks, the NFL will again be shown regularly on RTL on Sundays in primetime. The action will kick off on Nitro with the Las Vegas Raiders taking on the New England Patriots at 7 p.m., and the San Francisco 49ers facing the Seattle Seahawks at 10:05 p.m. CET. RTL+ will also start its pre-game coverage of the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns at 6:45 p.m. (kickoff: 7 p.m.).
Concentrated NFL expertise in front of the camera
In RTL Deutschland’s third NFL season, new and permanent on-air constellations in the Cologne studio and from the sidelines of US stadiums will ensure that the live broadcasts will be accompanied competently and in an entertaining way. On free-to-air TV, Patrick Esume and Björn Werner will welcome fans to the broadcasts in primetime on Sunday evenings. At 10 p.m., commentator Jan Stecker and former professional NFL player Kasim Edebali will take over. The American football evenings will be hosted by lead presenter Jana Wosnitza and presenter Florian Ambrosius. On RTL+, NFL expert Adrian Franke, commentators Mika Kaul and Frederick Schulz, and community hosts Tobias Budde and, for the first time, Christian Schulz complete RTL’s NFL crew. Former NFL professionals and experts Markus Kuhn and Sebastian Vollmer, who live in the United States, are also part of the on-air team and will continue to take turns reporting from US stadiums on every game day.
NFL season opener with the Super Bowl champion live on RTL
Before the first regular broadcast on Sunday, September 7, the NFL regular season will kick off the early in the morning of September 5 (CET) with the official NFL Kickoff Game. RTL will broadcast the season opener game with the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles hosting Dallas Cowboys live on free-to-air TV starting at 1:40 a.m. (kickoff: 2:20 a.m. CET).
