RTL Klub To Broadcast TV Series With Volodymyr Zelensky – And Donate To Victims Of The War

RTL Hungary has acquired the rights to the Ukrainian comedy series “Servant of the People” featuring former comedian and current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The series will launch on RTL Klub on March 20. The commissions RTL Hungary paid for the series has been donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross.

RTL Hungary has acquired the rights to the comedy series “Servant of the People” featuring former comedian and current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which originally aired on Ukrainian television from 2015-2019, and will soon broadcast the series. In the series, Volodymyr Zelensky played the president of Ukraine before being elected as the real president. RTL Hungary has bought the rights to the series from the Swedish media company Eccho Rights, which holds the international rights to “Servant of the People”. Eccho Rights has donated €50,000, the estimated commissions from the sales of the series (excluding its costs), to the Ukrainian Red Cross. By purchasing the rights to the series, RTL Hungary supports the charity while also donating additional funds to help refugees. Since the war started, viewers of RTL Klub have donated more than HUF 36 million (€97,000) to the Hungarian Interchurch Aid organization. In addition, RTL Hungary is donating a further HUF 30 million (€80,500) to the organization.

First two episodes will be broadcast on March 20 on RTL Klub 

Before his political career, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky was a popular actor, comedian, screenwriter, film producer and director in Ukraine. His production company, Studio Kvartal 95, produced numerous films, cartoons and television series, including the series “Servant of the People”. The series broke all rating records on the Ukrainian TV channel that broadcast the series and, alongside the three seasons, a feature film was produced. The political party Volodymyr Zelensky is representing was founded in 2018 and holds the same name as the series. In 2019, he won the real Ukrainian presidential election by a large majority of the votes. The first two episodes will be broadcast on 20 March on RTL Klub, and all three seasons of the series will be available on the streaming platform RTL Most  .
