It is a place where people meet who are fascinated by a building that on the outside tells the story of centuries past, yet reveals a surprisingly modern world within; for opinion makers from politics, business and science to enter into conversation; and for media creators and authors to discuss their work with a critical audience. In short, Unter den Linden 1 has become an institution in the cultural and social scene of Berlin.

A diverse program of events

A global, decentralized company like Bertelsmann needs spaces and opportunities for exchanging thoughts and ideas. Bertelsmann's broad spectrum of content is also reflected in the nearly 350 in-house events the company hosts each year: from seminars and workshops to political panel discussions, from major networking events such as Talent Meets Bertelsmann, media conferences, and the Bertelsmann Annual Press Conference to gala receptions, book presentations with famous authors, and musical soirées.
Thanks to the great flexibility and high technical standard of its facilities, Bertelsmann Unter den Linden 1 was able to accommodate the special requirements of the years 2020 and 2021 and, in addition to socially distanced and hybrid events, regular in-person events are also held – always in accordance with the latest requirements.

Bertelsmann Party

The Bertelsmann Party is usually the annual highlight event at Unter den Linden 1 and a fixture in the Berlin social calendar. Each year, Liz Mohn and the Bertelsmann Executive Board welcome around 800 famous guests from the worlds of media, culture, politics, business and science to the company's premises, which are brilliantly and imaginatively decorated for this special evening. The event had to be put on hiatus in 2020/21.

As well as the internal events for which the building is usually reserved, Bertelsmann also hosts a variety of events that allow the people of Berlin to gain an insight into its creative diversity.

UFA Film Nights

The UFA Film Nights, organized annually by Bertelsmann in cooperation with the UFA, are another highlight in the event calendar.

The idea of organizing open-air screenings of cinematic milestones with live musical accompaniment has proven very popular. When Bertelsmann and UFA show classic silent films in a historic architectural setting on three evenings in August, each screening usually attracts some 800 visitors. In 2020, the UFA Film Nights took place as an online event but returned to Museum Island in 2021 following a strict hygene and tracing concept.
