‘Stern’ Organizes Virtual ‘Day Of Solidarity’

Subject: Media & Services, Society, Corona
Country: Germany
Category: Project

In the fight against the novel coronavirus, “Stern” is dedicating its reporting to especially unifying and remarkable projects. Yesterday, the news portal stern.de therefore organized a “Day of Solidarity” as part of the “Together Against Corona” initiative of the Bertelsmann Content Alliance, of which “Stern” is a member. The news portal of the G+J magazine dedicated its entire homepage to the people and initiatives that are currently generating a wave of solidarity across Germany. Until the evening, the “Stern” editors monothematically reported on the subject and presented examples of how public life can be kept going despite the contact prohibition, closed stores and the fear of contracting COVID-19. The Stern Stiftung foundation, whose call for donations accompanies select articles, forwards financial assistance directly to people who have been seriously affected by the corona crisis. The current print issue of “Stern” also deals with the wave of generosity that is spreading throughout Germany. In addition, “Stern” has launched a telephone counseling service to support those who are suffering from anxiety and depression due to the crisis. The aid project brings together 30 psychotherapists, psychiatric doctors, pastoral workers, coaches and crisis helpers from all over Germany. They hold supportive talks, encourage and help with concrete advice. More information is available at www.stern.de  and www.stern.de/solidaritaet.
