Arvato Supports Reforestation in India

Customers increasingly expect their suppliers to take action and make improvements in the area of climate protection and the conservation of our environment. Eight international service sites, where Arvato provides services for the important major client Microsoft, have supported a reforestation project in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh within the framework of a cooperation with the climate protection consulting firm Climate Partner, aiming to receive the appropriate certification.

Project Manager Daiva Talp explains: "All of the airline miles of employees in Münster, Gütersloh, Brasov, Stettin, Tallinn, Monterrey, Manila and Clark collected for on-the-job travel were translated into tons of CO2. For each ton, an emissions offset of €9 was defined." Daniel Seemann, Global Director Microsoft CRM, adds: "The Microsoft customer service division was able to donate almost €5,000 to support this purposeful project in the year 2014 through this campaign."

In addition to planting trees on a total of 282 hectares of damaged soil, 150 new jobs were created on site during the course of the reforestation; as a result, the local population was thus supported at the same time. "Perhaps more Arvato sites will join the campaign next year," says Daiva Talp with hope.
