As part of the “Cuida’m” aid program of the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona, Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial has financially supported the surgery needed by a child for the eleventh time. Employees of the publishing group donate one euro of their salary each month throughout the year, and Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial then adds the remaining amount needed.

This year, it was one year-old Uafa Alien Corie from the Sahara, who had congenital heart disease and urgently needed surgery. She received this surgery through the “Cuida’m” aid program and a donations campaign of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial. For the eleventh time, the Spanish language publishing group supported the initiative of the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona, which aims to help sick children and teenagers from developing countries and offer them surgery that would not be possible in their home countries.

Employees of the publishing group donate one euro of their salary each month throughout the year, and Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial then adds the remaining amount needed. In total, around €10,000 has been donated since 2008 to cover the costs of the medical treatment and temporary stay of the children and their families in Spain.
