Nominations for the “Toggo Radio gibt dir eine Stimme” campaign and host Ariana Müller.
How do you get children fascinated with democracy, and how do you explain the Bundestag election to them? Toggo Radio, an RTL Deutschland station, has shown how it is done and was now recognized with a nomination for the 2025 German Radio Awards in the category “Best Program Campaign”. With its campaign week “Toggo Radio gibt dir eine Stimme”, the children’s and family station sent a clear signal for political education in the children’s room. Toggo Radio presenter Ariana Müller also has reason to celebrate: She is in the running for an award in the “Best Newcomer” category.
Toggo Radio’s campaign week dedicated to the Bundestag election in February made the principle of democracy and participation tangible, entertaining, and interactive for children. The station provided a stage for its young listeners to share their questions, wishes, and thoughts related to the election. Every day, the editorial team answered questions submitted by children about the Bundestag election in a child-friendly manner and at eye level in its program. The campaign was supplemented by informative “Wissens-Kicks” (knowledge kicks), the “Täglich Toggo” news, and many opportunities to get involved – on the radio, on TV, on toggo.de, and in the Toggo app. But it wasn’t just at Toggo that the kids were heard: The RTL lunchtime news program “Punkt 12” also featured a section called “Mit Kinderaugen sehen” (Seeing through children’s eyes), which gave children the opportunity to express their views and ask questions. These were answered by “RTL Aktuell” presenters Roberta Bieling and Christopher Wittich.
The second nomination for a German Radio Award goes to Ariana Müller of the Toggo Radio team of presenters. The jury considers her one of the top 15 newcomers 2025. Since 2024, she has been an afternoon host at Toggo Radio alongside Johanna Müssiger and Alexander Kumpf Mondays through Fridays.
