Exceptional Photo Exhibition ‘Last Folio’ Opens In Berlin

BAU X KUNST (CONSTRUCTION X ART)

For ten years now, Berlin’s Plein Air painter Christopher Lehmpfuhl has documented events on one of the German capital’s most spectacular building sites: the Humboldt Forum on Schlossplatz opposite Bertelsmann Unter den Linden 1. In late October 2018, Bertelsmann and Berlin’s Projektgesellschaft U5 showed 37 works from this cycle at “BAU X KUNST” (Construction Meets Art) in the huge subway construction site “Unter den Linden”.

Some 13,500 Berliners flocked to the future Unter den Linden subway station in late October to see the “BAU X KUNST” (Construction Meets Art) art exhibition jointly organized by Bertelsmann and the U5 subway builders on two “Open Construction Site Days.” Watch a video of the highlights of this extraordinary event, here.

Neal Preston

The documentary photographer Neal Preston spent four decades accompanying legendary musicians and bands, photographing them on- and off-stage. In the process, he created possibly the most extensive collection of rock‘n’roll photography. Bertelsmann, the Lightpower Collection and Kultur Räume Gütersloh presented 70 of Neal Preston’s iconic works to the public for a month, at Gütersloh Theater in autumn 2016.

Video: "In the Eye of the Rock'n'Roll Hurricane" - Highlights

"These photos convey the magic of music being performed live," said Bertelsmann CEO Thomas Rabe at the opening of the Neal Preston exhibition in Gütersloh, putting into words what most of the 250 guests were probably thinking. The opening featured live music and many exciting Rock'n'Roll stories.

Last Folio

The art photographer Yuri Dojc and the filmmaker Katya Krausova traced historic Jewish life in Slovakia with extraordinary photographs of abandoned buildings and dilapidated books. Bertelsmann brought their "Last Folio" exhibition to Germany in 2015, and to Latin America in 2016 for the first time.
